The District Chief Executive for North Gonja, Hon Adam Eliasu in collaboration with the Ghana Armed Forces specifically Headquarters of the Northern Command at Nyohini and the US CIMSE unit embarked on a Medical Civic Action Program (MEDCAP) in Daboya.
Health care delivery forms the most visible function of the health system, both to patients and the general public.The North Gonja for obvious factors as a deprived District is highly challenged with the quality and accessible organization and delivery of all services dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of disease, or the promotion, maintenance and restoration of health.
Yesterday on the 8th of March, 2023. A team from the Ghana Armed Forces with the collaboration of US CIMSE unit comprising of Doctors, Nurses and other other medical specialists was at the Daboya Polyclinic to render free medical outreach to the people of the District.
The exercise recorded overwhelming attendance as people trooped in from all corners of the North Ganja district to benefit from the medical package. Clients were medically examined and provided with prescribed drugs for different tropical diseases such as Malaria, cholera and other common diseases.
About 1,000 people at least who attended the medcap were treated during the day. 2,500 toothbrushes/toothpaste were distributed to school children while about 600 Women benefited from hygiene kit (sanitary pads). The team also visited schools and dewormed school pupils.
Hon Red Bawa speaking to the media acknowledged the contribution of the military in the safety and orderliness of society and reserved extra appreciation for their kindness and compassion to step out of the military zone offering medical services to his people in the District. The DCE assured to continue his co-operative and collaborative working relationship with them in order to achieve the needed benefit for his populace in North Gonja.
Participants were excited about the gesture and expressed to the media their joy in seeing the DCE put up frantic efforts concerning their welfare and social well-being. They all have admitted their love for the Men and Women in uniform after the exercise.
