The District Chief Executive (DCE) for North Gonja District, Hon. Abdulai Nashiru, today graced the 3rd SRC Week Celebration of the Savannah College of Education, where he reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to expanding access to quality tertiary education and supporting the growth of educational institutions across the country.
Addressing students, staff, and guests, the Hon. DCE highlighted some of the flagship education policies introduced by the Government of H.E. John Dramani Mahama to ease the financial burden on students and their families. He cited the No-Fee-Stress-Policy and Free Tertiary Education for Persons With Disabilities as key interventions aimed at ensuring that every qualified Ghanaian has the opportunity to pursue higher education regardless of financial constraints.
Hon. Abdulai Nashiru also commended the government for the ongoing construction of the permanent campus of the Savannah College of Education, describing the project as a transformative investment that will provide a conducive teaching and learning environment, expand infrastructure, and enhance the overall academic experience of students and staff.
Beyond infrastructure development, the DCE emphasized that the John Dramani Mahama-led government has officially absorbed the Savannah College of Education as a fully-fledged public College of Education, a landmark achievement that secures the institution’s future and strengthens teacher education in the Savannah Region.
He assured the college community that the North Gonja District Assembly remains committed to collaborating closely with the management of the Savannah College of Education to promote infrastructural development, academic excellence, and initiatives that will enhance the institution’s growth and contribute to the socio-economic development of the district.
The celebration brought together students, faculty, traditional authorities, government officials, and other stakeholders to commemorate the achievements of the Students’ Representative Council and reaffirm their shared commitment to advancing quality education in the district.
