As reported few days ago, the youth of Daboya community raised red flags about the ongoing construction of a 5km township road project. They earlier threatened a peaceful demonstration to draw the attention of authorities to fix anomalies relating to the construction. According to the concerned youth, they took notice of some defects under the supervision of the contractor which poses discomfort and smack of a shoddy job in their opinion.
The DCE, Hon Adam Eliasu Red Bawa yesterday 20/06/2023 welcomed Mr. Charles into the District to engage the concerned youth on the subject matter. This was after the invitation of the DCE calling on the director for urban roads in the Savannah Region to make time with the youth; the engagement yesterday provided thorough education and sensitization on the technical and engineering rational behind what the Youth call a defect in the construction.
According to the Director, the idea is to lay underground drainage culverts connecting with those from the Polyclinic and Busunu road and finally empties or connects to the white volta.
The successful engagement saw the Youth re-emphasizing their commitment in supporting and co-operating with the contractor to execute a socially responsible project for the people of North Gonja and Ghana at large.
The Youth expressed satisfaction and appreciation at the DCE’s leadership role and pledge their continued support to the District Assembly as stakeholders in development.
Hon Adam Eliasu appealed to the Director to help expedite action on the project for speedy completion. The DCE conveyed gratitude to the Youth for showing commitment to the well-being and development of the District, he gave assurances of continuously doing his best for the District.
The North Gonja District have enjoyed a fair share of government’s ambitious sector project dubbed ‘Year of Roads’ with a 75km Daboya-Mankarigu-Mempeasem Road construction as part of three (3) critical roads in the Savannah Region and a 28km Daboya-Bawena Road.
The DCE undertook works on Bugsa-Sagya feeder Road, Mankarigu-Bugsa feeder road, Yagbon-Zeipe feeder Road, Mankarigu-Sagya Road, Gua-Kito Road, Junction-Chief Palace Road in Daboya, Weaving centre Road in Daboya, Pentecost-Kadacon Road in Daboya, 2 no. Culverts on the Daboya Polyclinic Road.
